Growth, Nitrogen Uptake, and Nutritional Value of a Diverse Panel of Shrub Willow (Salix spp.) Genotypes in Response to Nitrogen Fertilization

چکیده
Riparian buffers are a practical strategy to reduce N runoff. Shrub willows (Salix spp.) well-suited natural means manage water quality due dense aboveground biomass growth, diffuse root systems at shallow depth, and low water- nutrient-use efficiencies that will maximize uptake. Perennial forage crops in the margins of agricultural lands could provide for fodder. The response fifty genotypes single level fertilizer under standard conditions very high nutrient loading (500 ppm N, delivered weekly) was compared with water-only controls. Irrigation excess caused greater growth measured as biomass, stem length, diameter, well morphological properties varied significantly by genotype, indicating potential selection breeding program. SPAD reliable indicator effect on foliar crude protein showed different effects uptake nutritional value among genotypes. We identified display good relative feed value. This intentional design environmental benefits have dual purpose should this potentially nutrient-dense used fodder small ruminants.

Optimizing nitrogen economy under drought: increased leaf nitrogen is an acclimation to water stress in willow (Salix spp.)
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The major objective was to identify plant traits functionally important for optimization of shoot growth and nitrogen (N) economy under drought. Although increased leaf N content (area basis) has been observed in dry environments and theory predicts increased leaf N to be an acclimation to drought, experimental evidence for the prediction is rare. METHODS A pedigree of 200...
متن کاملSongbird response to increased willow (Salix spp.) growth in Yellowstone's northern range.
After nearly a century of height suppression, willows (Salix spp.) in the northern range of Yellowstone National Park, U.S.A., are increasing in height growth as a possible consequence of wolf (Canis lupus) restoration, climate change, or other factors. Regardless of the drivers, the recent release of this rare but important habitat type could have significant implications for associated songbi...

An assessment of the nitrogen fertilization efficiency should not only include quantitativeand qualitative yield changes, but also an analysis of formation some indicators such as: Nharvest index (NHI), N use efficiency (NUE), N utilization efficiency (NUtE), N agronomicefficiency (NAE), N physiological efficiency (NPE) and N apparent recovery fraction (NRF).The objective of the study was the e...
متن کاملResponse of Some Bread and Durum Wheat Genotypes to Different Levels of Nitrogen in South West of Iran
In order to identify the effects of different levels of nitrogen fertilizer on seed yield and seed growth indices of some bread and durum wheat genotypes, a field experiment was conducted in 2013-2014 in Khuzestan Agricultural and Natural Resource Research Center. The experiment was designed as a split plot with three replications. Nitrogen application rates (50, 100 and 150 kg N.ha-1) were ass...
متن کاملHigh yielding biomass genotypes of willow (Salix spp.) show differences in below ground biomass allocation
Willows (Salix spp.) grown as short rotation coppice (SRC) are viewed as a sustainable source of biomass with a positive greenhouse gas (GHG) balance due to their potential to fix and accumulate carbon (C) below ground. However, exploiting this potential has been limited by the paucity of data available on below ground biomass allocation and the extent to which it varies between genotypes. Furt...
